Strawberry Brain Booster Smoothie Bowl
My best girlfriend, Meredith, and I, created this smoothie bowl during one of our girls nights together. We went live on Facebook and Instagram to share how delicious and satisfying a smoothie bowl can be. We use smoothie bowls to replace ice cream and sugary snacks.
We call it a “brain booster” because of the use of spinach and chia seeds. Spinach contains high amounts of calcium and magnesium, and chia seeds contain the correct ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids.
The brain thrives on omega-3. In the correct ratio, these fatty acids assist in maintaining a stable blood sugar level in the body, preventing crashes and maintaining your happy, pleasant mood (aka- you won’t be hangry!)
2 cups of water
2-3 cups baby spinach
2 packages of frozen, unsweetened acai
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 tsp chia seeds
Mandarin orange wedges
1) Run acai packets under hot water for 5 seconds. Cut open packages and place in blender. Add strawberries, banana and water. Blend together until well combined.
2) Add spinach and chia seeds. Blend again until smooth.
3) Pour into two large salad bowls. Place desired toppings carefully along the surface of the smoothie.
